Objectives

  1. • To implement the research mandates of NEP-2020
  2. • To promote sponsored research and consultancy
  3. • To explore the funding opportunities for research
  4. • To facilitate collaborations of research through MoUs
  5. • To formulate the policy for strengthening the university research ecosystem
  6. • To develop a framework to enhance the research quality and productivity
  7. • To foster research activities that is recognized and rewarded

Functions:

  • • To serve as a nodal center for coordination between other cells associated with the research promotion and activities
  • • To create enabling provisions in research policies for recruiting research personnel, procuring equipment, and financial management with adequate autonomy to the Principal Investigator (s) and disseminate research outcomes to stakeholders and the public.
  • • To develop an institutional research information system/database for sharing the status of ongoing/completed research projects/programs, available/accessible thrust areas of research, expertise, resources, etc., to provide consultancy services.
  • • To constitute various committees that promote research activities and facilitate implementation of its recommendations as envisaged in UGC R & D Guidelines.
  • • Liaison between researchers and research funding agencies to monitor progress and oversee adherence to project timelines.
  • • To engage and utilize the services of superannuate active faculty/scientists in research capacity building of talented young minds at HEIs and promote mobility of researchers across institutions and R & D Labs.
  • • To facilitate individual, departmental, and institutional research projects that are highly impactful, socially relevant, locally need-based, nationally important, and globally significant.
  • • R and D cell is headed by the Director and supported by the Deputy Director and other supporting staff. It is governed by the Research Advisory Committee (RAC) chaired by the vice-chancellor.
  • • The RAC helps frame guidelines, develop a research ecosystem, and ensure research quality. It also supports supporting systems like research and consultancy cells, intellectual property cells, innovation cells, and entrepreneur development cells.
